Metagenics Ultra
Parex™
Wormwood, Ginger & Sour
Plum Extracts for a Healthy Gastrointestinal Tract
60 Tablets
Ultra Parex™ is
a powerful combination of wormwood, ginger, and sour plum, herbs traditionally
used to support a healthy microbial environment and to stimulate cathartic
action of the digestive and excretory organs. The formula features premium
extracts of wormwood standardized to 5% artemisinin and ginger standardized
to 5% gingerols, combined with a decoction of sour plum, making Metagenics
Ultra Parex™ a powerful, targeted formula.
Herbs for Microbial
Balance and Digestive Function
Traditional Asian diets
include bitter, sour, and pungent foods such as ginger and plum, whose
flavors correspond with specific actions and affinities for selected organs
and their associated meridians (energy channels) in the body. These foods
have now been found to contain phytochemicals that contribute to balanced
gut ecology and healthy intestinal function. Utilizing advances in extraction
technology and the unique MetaBotanica® Method,
these active principles have been concentrated in tablet form and are available
in Metagenics Ultra Parex™.
Wormwood
This extremely bitter
herb has traditionally been used to support the health of the body relative
to microbial balance, hence its common name "wormwood." Current
research vindicating this traditional use has focused on the compound,
artemisinin (sesquiterpene lactone), which appears to be responsible for
the herb's dramatic effects. The Chinese classify wormwood as associated
with balancing the liver and gallbladder, and in the traditional and contemporary
herbalism of Europe the Artemisia species
are considered important ingredients in digestive formulations. Metagenics
Ultra Parex™ features
extremely high levels of wormwood in standardized rather than crude form
to provide potent levels of artemisinin.
Sour Plum
This Asian fruit stimulates
contractions in the intestinal tract and gallbladder, contributing to its
purgative qualities, and supports proper bowel transit time. Pectin, malic,
and succinic acids have been identified as some of sour plum's key active
ingredients. Traditional Chinese herbalists consider sour plum to be warming
or stimulating to the liver, spleen (pancreas), and large intestine. Prepared
according to Chinese tradition, the fruit is soaked in vinegar prior to
decoction to enhance its sour properties, which is thought to guide the
formula's action to the liver. The encouragement of liver function supports
healthy detoxification. |
